The wattle flourishes in August, transforming the bush into a golden haze. Come September, the vibrant purple of the Hardenbergia and delicate coral pea signal that many other spring wildflowers are not far away.

There are no formal walking trails, so visitors should explore carefully on foot along off-road areas for the best chance to spot native orchids, hardenbergia, alpine asters, yam daisies, purple coral pea, clematis, sundews, trigger plants, bulbine, twining fringe lilies, and native grasses.

The spring flourish of the inland slopes is followed in summer by their neighbouring Alpine cousins.
A gateway to the Snowy Mountains and the Great Dividing Range, the alpine areas are just a short drive from the Upper Murray region. Base yourself locally and continue exploring Australian alpine wildflowers well into the summer months.
